Henry Richardson Furminger was born 15th February 1814 in Brede, East Sussex. I do not have confirmation as yet but it seems most likely that he was the twin brother of William Richardson Furminger.
The middle name of Richardson most likely comes from the father of his mother, Mary is thought to have been the illigitmate daughter of a Mr Richardson, but all efforts to trace her parents have so far failed to provide anything conclusive.
Henry appears on the 1841 Census living in Turnpike Road, Brede. Also living in the same road are his parents, with some of his other siblings and in the next road (Littlespole Road ?)his brother William and family.
Henry is working as an agricultural labourer, his wife Dinah and their first two children Arron and Ellen are also shown on the census.
Henry married Dinah COMBER on the 21st September 1834 at Westfield in Sussex. Dinah was born 14th July 1817 in Ewhurst, Sussex.
Henry and Dinah had 9 Children all born in Brede,
The first beign Aaron b.31st October 1838,
the second was Ellen b.11th December 1840,
followed by Isaac b.26th October 1842 who died 25th April 1843.
Isaac Edward was b.5th August 1844,
then Edgar b.2nd September 1845,
then Jonus b.14th May 1847 but he died a few days later on 20th May 1847,
then on the 8th May 1848 Dinah gave birth to a still born baby.
The following year Stephen Daniel was b.5th Apr 1849
and lastly David Horace b.4th Aug 1851
On the 1851 Census the family are still living in Brede and, Henry is still an Ag. Labourer. But only Aaron, Edgar, Stephen Daniel and Ellen are living with their parents, there is no sign of Isaac Edward (I need to check that he is not listed with relatives)
On the 1861 Census they are living at Broad Oak Road, Brede with only Stephen and David still at home. Henry still employed as an Ag. Labourer.
1871 Census sees them still living in Brede, but all the children have now left home. Henry still working as Ag. Labourer.
Dinah died in 1876 at Brede, followed by Henry in 1878.
Aaron, Isaac, Stephen and David all eventually emigrated to Canada.
Ellen married a Thomas Dennis and settled in Beckley, Sussex.
What happened to Edgar is currently a mystry.
