Thomas Furminger was born 1789 in the Village of Brede, East Sussex.
(Approximately 2 years after the "Bounty" sailed for Tahiti)
On the 10th October 1813, Thomas married Mary RUMENS, she was born about 1794 in Brede.
Mary "Rumens" Furminger circa 1865
They had 14 children:
On the 1841 Census Thomas and family are living in Turnpike Road, Brede and his occupation is a Thatcher.
The 1851 Census part 1 and part 2 has Thomas and family still living in Turnpike Road, Brede and still working as a Thatcher. Only Carlos, Frederick Daniel, Isaac and Peter are still at home.
The 1861 Census has Thomas and Mary living in Broad Oak road, Brede. Next door to his youngest son Peter Philip and his family. Thomas is now employed as an Agricultural labourer. (Note - This is the first time his wife Mary has given reference to her origins with the initials R.R. being given as middle names. It is thought these stand for Richardson - Rumens and probably refer to her Farther and Mothers surnames.)
Mary died in 1868, but as yet the death record for Thomas has not been found, all I know was that it was before 1871.
